An offshore development centre, an extension of your tech team, or a managed software team, from Amman on Riyadh and Dubai time. Written for the CTO and the procurement lead in the Gulf, with sourced numbers.
UTC+3
Riyadh's own clock, all year, no daylight saving
Sunday to Thursday
Jordan's default working week, and yours
5 working days
to a first shortlist on the roles we recruit continuously
One invoice
a month, from one entity, with no residency or sponsorship on your company
Because Jordan runs on the same clock and the same Sunday to Thursday week, its engineers are Arabic-native and work in English, and their pay sits at roughly a quarter of Gulf levels for the same role. A team in Amman joins your morning meeting in Riyadh at the same hour, takes Friday off with you, and needs no visa, housing or residency because it is employed by Folowise in Jordan on a formal contract, while you receive one monthly invoice. The engineers do not count toward nationalisation quotas because they are not on your entity's payroll, and we say that before the contract rather than after it.
8h
a full shared working day with Riyadh, Doha, Manama and Kuwait

software engineer pay in Jordan against the Gulf, median to median, Levels.fyi August 2026
Four reasons
Jordan is on UTC+3 like Riyadh, and one hour behind Dubai. The week runs Sunday to Thursday. There are no "overlap hours" to compute for you, just one whole working day.
The engineer discusses requirements with your team in Arabic and writes documentation and code review in English, the way your company already does. Every engineer carries a recorded English score that reaches you with the profile.
The engineer is employed by Folowise in Amman on a Jordanian contract with social security. No residency, no ticket and no housing allowance on your entity, and one invoice a month.
We will not write "save 60%". We publish the numbers with their source and date and leave the division to you. Then our price is on every page, so you compare it yourself instead of requesting a quote.
The cost
Basic salary plus fixed allowances, excluding bonus, in the start-up and funded segment. Source: Cooper Fitch UAE and KSA Salary Guides 2025. Then open our price book and compare the same role.

The clock
The first two rows are yours. The rest is shown because most Gulf companies also work with partners in Europe or the US.
| Your region | Offset | Standard Amman day | Shifted day | Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gulf · Riyadh, Doha, Manama | UTC+3 | 8h | Identical clock, all year | |
| UAE · Dubai, Abu Dhabi | UTC+4 | 7h | One hour apart, no DST on either side | |
| Central Europe · Berlin, Amsterdam, Paris | UTC+1/+2 | 7 to 8h | 7h in winter, 8h in summer. Effectively a shared day | |
| United Kingdom · London | UTC+0/+1 | 6 to 7h | 6h winter, 7h summer. An 11:00-20:00 Amman day covers the entire UK working day | |
| US East · New York, Toronto | UTC-5/-4 | 1 to 2h | 5 to 6h | 1 to 2h on a standard Amman day. 5 to 6h on a 13:00-22:00 Amman day |
| US Central · Chicago, Dallas | UTC-6/-5 | 1h or less | 4 to 5h | Standard overlap is close to nothing. 4 to 5h on a 13:00-22:00 Amman day |
| US West · San Francisco, Seattle | UTC-8/-7 | No practical overlap | 3 to 4h | We advise against a full shifted day here. We propose a 3 to 4h bridge window with structured async handover |
FAQ
Yes. Every engineer in the network is based in Jordan and Arabic-native, and works in English for documentation and code review as the region does. For a Gulf client that means meetings without a language barrier; for a Western client, a recorded English score that reaches you with the profile.
No. The engineer is employed by Folowise in Jordan and works remotely, so they do not count toward Nitaqat or Emiratisation because they are not on your entity's payroll. If you need seats that count, that is local hiring, and we say so on the first call rather than let you find out at renewal.
Yes, in three forms, each with its published multiplier in the price book: remote from Amman, the default and the fastest; hybrid with a quarterly visit from the tech lead or product manager; or full relocation to your office. Relocation needs a work visa and residency and 8 to 14 weeks before day one, and the visa is a decision we do not control.
Partially, and honestly. With Europe and the Gulf the overlap is near total with no adjustment. With US East we propose a Jordan day of 13:00 to 22:00 which gives five hours of overlap, we get the engineer's consent for it, and we price it into their salary. With the US West Coast we advise against a full shifted day and propose a three hour bridge window with structured async handover. Full numbers are on the timezone page.
Folowise employs them in Jordan on a formal employment contract, and pays salary, social security and applicable taxes. You pay Folowise one monthly invoice. There is no direct contractual relationship between you and the engineer, which is what protects you from worker-classification exposure.
For roles where we have a standing pipeline: a first shortlist within 5 working days of a clear brief, and your interviews the week after. The actual start depends on the engineer's notice period with their current employer, and Jordanian labour law requires a month on indefinite contracts. Realistic total: 3 to 6 weeks. We publish both numbers deliberately: anyone publishing "48 hours" alone means time to shortlist, not time to start, and is offering you whoever is unoccupied rather than the best people in the market.
A fixed monthly price per seat for the hours you committed to, from the same published price book. Invoiced at the start of the month on 15 day terms. The price includes salary, employer costs, equipment and operational support. Annual leave, Jordanian public holidays and sick leave are inside the price: nothing is deducted and nothing is added. Capacity changes on one month's notice; sustained overtime is not included, and we usually refuse it because it burns the engineer out within two months.

Not the headcount. Tell us the product, the date, and what team you have today, and we will propose the shape. If we think what you need is not more engineers, we will say so on the first call.
